is Pastor of the Dayspring Family Church located at 618 N. Belt Line Road in Irving, Texas, where her husband Bishop Kevin Keith Dickerson is Senior pastor. The ministry was founded in 1994 and is designed to cross denominational, racial and ethnic barriers. The ministry is dedicated to directing families to Jesus Christ and teaching them how to be equipped and available for service in the work of the Lord.
She received her Bachelors Degree in Accounting from Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois. She has attended the Calvary Cathedral Bible School and John Maxwell Leadership Training Institute. She completed her Masters Degree in Biblical Studies as well as Doctor of Ministry at Vision International University.
She currently serves on various community boards and coordinates the Dayspring Women’s Conferences, which continues to impact the lives of many women each year. During her seven-year tenure at the Tarrant Area Food Bank, she served as the Kids Café Director. She established more than 20 after school feeding sites for at risk children. Those sites served more than 1600 children a hot evening meal on a daily basis.
Pastor Sonjia is Founder and Executive Director of C.L.A.S.S. Inc., which stands for Cultivating Leaders Achieving Scholastic Success. She established C.L.A.S.S. to address the dropout rate in the state of Texas, which is currently 39.6% by annually applauding the accomplishments of students graduating from High School. This program is designed to provide students with leadership development training, presenting them in an elegant faith-based cotillion and awarding them a $500 scholarship. As a result, forty students are currently enrolled in college and being supported by C.L.A.S.S.
Her spiritual musical gift was birthed at the tender age of four years, when she began singing praises to God. Her ability to usher in the presence of God to a waiting audience is nothing less than the anointing of the Holy Spirit.
She has received many accolades and won various awards over the years including UIL first place soloist, Soloist of the Year, Gospel Music Trailblazer and many more. In the past three years, she has released two music projects –Faith For The Journey and In His Presence. She is currently in the studio working on a project to be released this year. She looks forward to bringing new gospel music minstrels to the forefront ….mentoring them in the release of their recording projects and helping them to fulfill God’s will for their lives.
She is a woman of foresight and capability, accompanied by a great love for the people of God. She maintains a busy preaching schedule and ministers with enthusiasm and captures the heart and mind of the hearer. She speaks a sound word with a lively style that allows for the move of the Holy Spirit.
Pastor Sonjia B. Dickerson is the mother of three, Kevin II, Cherese, and Faith, and the spiritual mother to the members of the Dayspring Family Church. She has been married 26 years to Bishop Kevin Keith Dickerson, her sweetheart. |
